The Alatus
"With Wings"
Alatus - "with wings" Named after our grandpa Tom "Doc" Campbell's sailboat based in Port Ludlow. Our family has great memories of sailing the San Juan Islands doing what you do on a 60' sailboat.
Every year, we will put a signature Bordeaux blend together that will be given the name "Alatus". The focus of the Alatus Blend will be balance. It will be blended in a fruit forward style, with just the right amount of oak.
The 2006 Alatus Blend is comprised of a 1/3 blend of Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, and Merlot. It begins with tobacco and vanilla. Robust flavors of cherry, dark chocolate, and fig, finishing with black licorice. This wine says it all, and is a great example of what you will come to expect from Kontos Cellars.
